Bend Senior High School Replacement

With a rich history and unique culture, Bend Senior High School holds a special place in the hearts of many community members as the first high school in Central Oregon. Throughout its almost 70-year history, the school has weathered changes both on the campus but also outside of its walls as Bend and the overall region experienced profound growth and change. This replacement project looks to preserve the special places and memories in the development of a new campus while providing a modern learning environment for future generations.

With extensive input from staff, community, students and the design team – an initial campus plan was developed for the high school, including four new individual buildings separated by exterior courtyards. In this new master plan, the existing theater, technology building, and football stadium are all designated to remain. The first building of the new campus plan, the Robert D. Maxwell Building, was completed in 2021 and set the tone for the future campus replacement.
